Ahmed Darwish Bergawi
Ahmed Darwish Bergawi is a true Gemini….with all that means!! The great
sense of humor, the insatiable appetite for knowledge, the dedication
for the job….THE WHOLE NINE YARDS!!
Bergawi graduated in the Arts Academy in 1993. He commenced his career
by working with big names like Atef El –Tayeb and Wael Fahmi Abd-El
Hamid for about two years and spent the last ten years of his life
directing ART's best shows!
Today he is the chief director in ART's studios, responsible for the
world cup coverage, the Cannes Festival coverage and the hit show "Lef w
Erga3 tani"!!
"I would have to say that my most memorable experience of being a
"public" figure was when a girl proposed to me during a show I was
directing about the USA", said Bergawi!!!
Bergawi reveals why he especially enjoys directing "Lef w erga3 tani":
"It is entirely brand-new both in content and perspective. It presents
the social religious shows in a very pristine fashion".
Amongst Bergawi's most esteemed Arab mentors are Salah Abou Saif, Atef
El-Tayeb and Mohamed El-Naggar, while Vincent Mannelli remains his
ultimate western mentor. His favorite directors though are Daoud Abd El
Sayed and Robert Wise!! He believes that Ahmed Zaki is "THE" actor of
all times and Faten Hamama will remain unrivalled for decades to come!!!
When asked about his funniest career moment, Bergawi sniggered: "One
time I was directing a live show and I went to talk to the presenter
with a sandwich in my hand and I guess I wasn't paying attention because
we were suddenly on air!!!!"
His keenest professional dream is that the Arab media prevails
internationally. But his personal dream is "directing greats" in the
cinema world.
Bergawi's message to his audience is: "All types of criticism are
welcomed. So….tell me what you want, what you Really Really want!!!"
